Above: Shepard Fairey succeeded at posterizing the Barack Obama campaign
What does 2009 have in store for us? I get a feeling of anticipation, but in my mind I draw blanks. I look forward to following the political realm of Obama and his Washington team more closely than I have in the past. Not only am I curious to watch this enormous economic stimulus vision of a plan unfold, but also just as excited to try and draw inferences and predictions from our economic crisis of a situation to make more educated financial choices. And, as lovely as pumping an estimated $825 billion dollars into our economy sounds, it will not change our circumstances in the long run, if we do not practice responsibility, self-control, long-term planning, and discernment with our personal finances. Not only this, but also owning up to the responsibility we hold as a nation and American citizens..... we have been given much and now still much is expected.... unless we want the scripture "He who giveth, also taketh away" to ring true. I don't think Obama was called to save all the luxuries Americans have worked so hard to "earn", but rather to wake us up. In the United States our biggest gift is freedom, and what better time to practice this gift than with a new presidential term under Obama. We have relief in our hearts that we may still be able to hold our power; hence, be a good example and hope to other nations held in captivity by complete governmental corruption. On that note, lets start a new season by using our freedom to make honorable choices in our personal lives. And might I add, there is no easy cure for our national recession, but it is filled with hope.... which I'll take over greed (Bush administration) any day.
